Consider the irritating ants – and be wise

Today I want to talk about ANTS. Let’s consider the ants, shall we?

Ants In My House

I have some pretty resilient ants in my house. When I catch them marching in an orderly manner across my wall, I resolutely spray them with insect repellent. These ants ain’t welcome in my house.

But it’s never-ending…!

These persistent ants keep finding new paths. They won’t march where I’ve sprayed repellent before, but they’ll make a new way.

Every day a new way. They are truly way makers.

So now, whenever I discover their new trail, I catch myself singing.

“Way Maker,
Miracle Worker,
Promise Keeper,
Light in the darkness.
My God, that is Who You are!”

Even irritating ants are pointing me to the Lord!!

Ants In The Bible

Yup, the Bible does tell us to consider the ants.

“Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise,”

Proverbs 6:6

What I see when I consider the persistent, resilient, irresistible way-makers- ants in my house is truly wisdom, and it is captured so well in this other song, which is so timely – because tomorrow is Resurrection Sunday!

“Death could not hold You, the veil tore before You
You silenced the boast, of sin and grave
The heavens are roaring, the praise of Your glory
For You are raised to life again”

From ‘What a Beautiful Name’, Hillsong Worship

Like the ants, nothing can stop Jesus – not even death! He rose up from the dead to give us everlasting life and a sweet relationship and partnership with Him.

And like the ants that are always on a mission, The Lord hunts us down all the days of our lives. Always finding a way to reach our hearts with His abundant love.

Amen!
